Master's degree in Clinical Counseling from UTEP (El Paso, TX) - GPA: 4.0 Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Child and Family Studies from Baylor University (Waco, TX) I had several classes in Human Development, Neuroscience, Statistics, and developed excellent critical reading, writing, and study skills. - GPA: 3.75 High school and IB diploma from Coronado High School (El Paso, TX) I had success in both AP and IB classes, and feel that I could successfully assist students in these programs. - GPA: 3.8
Experience
During undergrad, I was the assistant coordinator of a tutoring center for at-risk children (ages 5-18) in Waco, TX. I tutored Math, Reading, Writing, and general study skills. Here, I received gained valuable knowledge and experience in teaching material tailored to a student's learning style. I also worked in the writing lab at Baylor University for two years. I edited papers and assisted in structuring proper essays. In high school, I took and did well in both AP and IB tests, so I know the format of the tests, as well as what graders want to see. As a therapist, it is easier for me to identify an individual's learning style. I believe this is important in comprehending new/difficult subjects. I do my best to teach the material in a way that the student will understand. I have always loved helping others learn new things. I don't think there's anything quite as rewarding a watching a student grasp a subject.
